It Always Takes Me By Surprise
Yesterday while I was on my walk, I had to stop and gaze. Then I had to get a picture of these beautiful trees on the hill.
Every year the fall colors surprise me. I know that sounds crazy because seasons change like clockwork. It may be that I'm not expecting them in early October, but all of a sudden I look around and there's yellows, oranges and reds everywhere.
Are you enjoying the changing of the season and all the fall colors?

Along the River
Wordless Wednesday:
Too bad my cell phone didn't do this photo justice. It was a lovely day on my bike ride.

Entering a New Era
Wordless Wednesday
Look!!! Never thought I'd want an e-reader, but this is such a fascinating tool. I'm drooling over the books that are just a download away. My reading passion has definitely been KINDLED.
I guess I've just entered a new era.

Things I Miss
There are several things I miss about camp. One of them is fishing. I caught a few fish while I was there. You probably didn't take me for a fisherwoman, did ya?
Another thing I miss are the sunsets on the lake. Just water, trees and sky.

The Zoo
My sister needed a babysitter this afternoon, so I agreed to look after her 7-year-old twins. The other two kids went to camp today. I decided it might be fun to go on an outing, rather than me just sitting at her house all day while the kids played with the neighbors. Or worse yet, invited the neighbor kids over.
So the plan was made. We would go to the zoo. I was told that my rating as an Aunt would go through the roof. We shall see how that plays out in weeks to come.
It was a fun afternoon. We saw some cool animals.
We were captivated by some very hungry fish!

They begged me to ride the train.
And I think we bonded a little.
You know what? I'm pooped out.

The Painting Project: Pictures At Last
Alright, I guess the bedroom is as finished as it's going to get... for now. I still want at least two more items for the walls, like another complimentary picture or some sort of decorative thing in a butterfly motif. We also need closet door pulls to be installed, but they won't make or break the look.
I think the photos show the paint to be much grayer than it is in person, but this is the best I could do. I'm sure lighting has everything to do with it.
Love the new curtains and white mini-blinds. They brighten up the room.
This is a picture that was a birthday gift. The color choice for the walls was based on this picture alone, and I've been waiting 6 months for the room to be painted in order to hang it.
I think Dixie feels pretty comfortable with the color choices.

Oh Where Is Spring?
Hmmm... Is this April or December? Doesn't this picture just scream Spring? Just makes you feel chipper and ready for a new week, doesn't it?
Um... not exactly.
This is what we woke up to in northern Indiana this morning. Wet, slushy snow! Looks like they're calling for more of the same tomorrow, too. I guess I'll hold my breath for Sunday when the forecast is calling for 60 degrees.
{Sigh}

Tagged: "Got the Picture"
I've been tagged again, which hasn't happened in quite some time. My bloggy friend, Ronnica over at Tale of a Kansas Girl, wanted me to post with this photo meme. So here's the deal:
- Go to your sixth picture folder, then pick your sixth picture.
- Pray that you remember the details.
- Tag 5 others, leave a comment to let them know they've been tagged.
This is the picture I found in the specified folder. It's my dog Dixie, who is the doggy love of my life. There's really no story behind the photo. I just enjoy snapping shots of my dog, and this one is particularly sweet. She's sort of tossing her head back, so she appears a tad glamorous. Don't you think?
I don't feel like tagging anyone today. If you want to post this one yourself, then go for it...and leave a link to your post in my comments so I can check it out.

Pottery Pictures
A few weeks ago I went to the ceramics studio with my sister and painted a sugar bowl. I think it turned out fabulous, if I do say so myself.
And as I often do, I gave this one away to a friend.

I Hate Cooking, But...
...look what I made for lunch today.
It's a Hawaiian omelette made with ham, pineapple and cheddar cheese. Isn't it pretty?

About the Socks
Dear Friend (you know who you are),
Thank you for always respecting my love for the Mouse. Not everyone sympathizes with my longing for the Happiest Place on Earth. It really is a magical place. You just have to believe. Some only mock. I shudder to think of it.
But you have always nurtured my desire for all things Disney, and I appreciate that so much. Like today when you gave me these...
Nothing says I love you like a pair of Mickey socks.
Thanks,
Liz

A Year in Photos
I probably won't blog about every single photo I take. In fact, I know I won't, but you will be seeing some of them. I've had fun over at flickr.com, trying to get everything set just the way I want it. I haven't really used their service before, so I had no idea what to do with everything and where the various tools were located. It took me awhile, but I finally figured some things out. The most exciting discovery was when I found the "blog this" button. I can blog on a photo, and they'll send it right to Blogger for me. Thank you, flickr!
If you'd like to read more about this photo project, you can head over to Photojojo where Project 365 is explained.

Me and My Blog

I heart my little blog, and I've only been at it for a few months. It didn't take long to become an addict (much like that Peppermint Mocha gig, but I digress). I can't wait until I celebrate my one-year bloggiversary, just like Amanda.

Preparing for Christmas Blogging
It bugs me that I haven't written a thing since Thanksgiving. It isn't that I haven't tried to, but it's more like I've been feeling some weird emotional stuff that sort of caught me off guard. I want to get back at this writing thing, though, so here I am. It'll be a quick one because it's Sunday afternoon, and you know where I will be - napping! Need to get that in before I go back to church for choir practice.
Over Thanksgiving I was able to scrounge through photo albums at my parents' house, and I found some good Christmas pictures from childhood. Unfortunately, I also found some old school pictures that I would just as soon forget about. (sigh) Back to the Christmas stuff... the memories have been stirring, and I'm going to have some to share in my December blogs now and some photos to show, too. You're welcome to come back for the ride down memory lane with me.
