Chat Pack (A Vlog Edition)

Do you have any idea how hard it is for me to introduce my vlogs each week?  I try to come up with some witty, catchy thing to say that will entice you to watch, but honestly I don't know how to promote my vlogs.

So no fancy introduction here.  It is what it is.

In today's vlog I answer a random Chat Pack question and also talk a little about my sick cat.  I've also added a few  "enhancements" to the video for fun.

Have a great Friday!

A Music Discovery

I have a dream to write songs, even just one song would make me really, really happy.  There's probably only about two people in the world who know that about me, but now I guess there will be about twenty of you that know.  I don't know why I'm incapable of coming up with a simple song, but I get a total mental block whenever I've attempted it.  It's very frustrating.

I think of all the millions of music artists who sit down and write music all the time.  I'm musical.  I'm talented.  But the words and music just don't come.  So I just have to listen to everyone else's music until God gives me a song.

Speaking of everyone else's music... have you all heard Kari Jobe?  I think I've seen her name out there, but I'm not real "up" on all the new music these days.  Well, let me tell you what.  She's great.  I discovered her the other day, and I am totally lovin' her.  Don't get me wrong.  No way am I ditching my pretend BFF Sara Groves by any means, but this girl Kari has got a beautiful voice.  I'm thinking if God doesn't give me a song of my own, it will be okay.  I'll just keep singing Sara's and Kari's songs.

If you're unfamiliar with her, you can check out this video I found.  The picture quality isn't great because somebody recorded off of a big screen, but it's really the song I am going for here.  Take a listen, if you like.

You Are For Me

Okay, just one more thing.  Could you all do me a favor, and come back tomorrow?  I have a special post going up for ohamanda's Top Ten Tuesday that's super important to me.  I'll see you then, bright and early Tuesday morning.

Then Sings My Soul: "Call On Jesus"

then_sings_my_soul

My selection today is a song I enjoy playing when I really need a faith boost, which means I play it frequently.  This life is hard, and I need to be reminded all the time that God is always there, ready to pour out His grace for my trial and temptations.  I'm so quick to forget.

My favorite lines in Nicole C. Mullen's song, Call On Jesus, are...

Sometimes I'm hiding away

From the madness around me

Like a child who's afraid of the dark.

But when I call on Jesus

All things are possible.

I can mount on wings like eagles and soar.

I often feel like hiding.  Life doesn't make sense to me much of the time.  At times it feels like the world has spun off course, and I'm not sure I can hang on any longer.  Life hurts.  But this song reminds me that Jesus is there, and He's just waiting for me to call on Him to rescue me from despair, discouragement and giving up in the battle.

So today, enjoy one of my favorite songs... Call On Jesus.

"Indescribable"

then_sings_my_soul This is my first time participating in Then Sings My Soul Saturdays.  I have a lot of favorite songs, and many of them I have had opportunity to sing at church as special music with my friend Judy.

Today's entry is a particular favorite because all the lyrics are words to describe the Lord found in scripture.  The words and music of this song, Indescribable, were written by James MacDonald, and he included scripture references for every description given in the song.  It's powerful.

My favorite lyrics are toward the end of the song where it describes Christ as He is seen in the book of Revelation.  It builds to a climax, and it gives me goosebumps every single time.  As we sing, you will recognize the words in this passage...

His eyes were like a flame of fire, and on His head were many crowns. He had a name written that no one knew except Himself.  He was clothed with a robe dipped in blood, and His name is called The Word of God.  And the armies in heaven, clothed in fine linen, white and clean, followed Him on white horses.  Now out of His mouth goes a sharp sword, that with it He should strike the nations. And He Himself will rule them with a rod of iron. He Himself treads the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God. And He has on His robe and on His thigh a name written: KING OF KINGS AND LORD OF LORDS.

(Revelation 19:12-16 NKJV)

Into Those Facebook Lists?

If you're on Facebook, you may have participated in one of those notes you're supposed to post about yourself and then tag 25 friends, passing on the Facebook notes annoyance love.  So if you're one of those people, you will totally get a kick out of this video.  It's hilarious!

25 THINGS I HATE ABOUT FACEBOOK

I think my biggest Facebook annoyance is that when you do comment on somebody's stuff, you get email notifications every time another person comments, as well.  Sometimes I want to read the comments, but other times I don't care.

I agree with this guy about the ad bar, too.  Some of them are gross to look at.

So leave me a comment and tell me which of these is your biggest Facebook annoyance.  And hey, if you're not on Facebook yet, this might just be the thing that will keep you from joining.  Yes, you should run away while you still can.  Run far, far away.

A Day at the Office: Edition #6

Watch the video, and then I have a couple comments I'd like to make.

1.  I do not know why I tilt my head to the side while I speak.  I don't think I do that in a normal conversation when a video camera is not running, but I guess you would have to ask my "in real life" friends.

2.  This video was taken first thing this morning.  It was actually the calm before the storm.  I got quite harried as the morning went on.  Just trying to be honest on the blog.  Didn't want you to think I'm all perky like this all the time.  In fact, you'd be scared if the camera had kept on recording through the next 2 hours.

I Want One!

Do you want to know what I'm drooling over right now????  One of these...

                       Flip

It's a Flip Video Mino Camcorder.  Did you know that it will record up to 60 minutes of video footage?  60 minutes!  1 whole hour!  Of video footage!

Do you realize what that could do for my A Day at the Office vlog series?  You could listen to me ramble on about nothing for 60 minutes.  Think of how that could change YOUR life, too.

Yeah, I'd probably cover my ears and sing la-la-la-la-I-can't-hear-you, too.

But a girl can dream, can't she?

Sweet Freedom!

It's been a long 90 days, and I am ready to burn rubber!  I found this video to best convey my feelings on this momentous occasion.  Who better to express it for me than Rascal Flatts and Lightning McQueen?

A Day at the Office

I'm not sure you are aware of this, but I enjoy making videos.  Of myself.  And looking back at the one I did for my blog mission statement... OH MY WORD - it was awful!  I'm not linking to it, just so you won't go look at it.  It didn't show any of my personality at all.  And my hair?  Awful!

Okay, so feeling truly inspired by other bloggers who recently did their own little videos for Linda at 2nd Cup of Coffee, I just HAD to do my own.  Because, like I said, I LOVE doing videos.

This probably won't be the last you see of me...

And Now My Dog Will Do A Trick

I don't know if any of you dog lovers watched that reality series "Greatest American Dog", but we did and loved it. I hope they bring it back again in a few months. We enjoyed watching the dogs and their owners compete in various tasks and challenges. Those dogs were amazing.

On the finale, one of the judges did a "leave it" command with a Boxer by placing the treat right on his paw, and it intrigued me. Ever since then, we've been practicing "leave it" with Dixie. It's crazy the way she does it. We set the treat in front of her, tell her leave it, and she gets up and walks away, all the while looking at the treat out of the corner of her eye. It seems to be such a great temptation that she feels like she has to walk away from it.

So I tried to capture that on video for you, but with my hand full of treats and the camera on, she was quite distracted and didn't perform exactly as she usually does. Here's what I was able to get out of her, and you'll notice she quickly reverts to her old standby trick of roll over. She may not be the smartest dog, but she is so stinkin cute!

The Challenge!

This was a scheduled running day for me.  And since running has sort of become an obsession with me, I put out a challenge for myself.  I decided to throw out the training schedule for today and set a goal...something I've been dreaming about since December 2007.

I knew I could not take all of you out for this exciting excursion, so I decided to bring it to you via video.  (Amy Beth, the princess of video blogging, is my inspiration for this media presentation.)

This is so exciting!  Take a look at what happened...
