The Pondering of a Teacher

God surprises me sometimes.

Last Sunday I only had one student in my Sunday school class. That's not unusual, seeing as I have a class of four regular attendees. It's somewhat of a disappointment when the other students who are absent miss the lesson because the curriculum always builds on the previous weeks.

Well, you just won't believe what happened. Tonight the Bible lesson in Olympians club came from the same Bible passage that our Sunday school lesson came from. In order to fully grasp what that means, you have to take into account that our Olympians curriculum and our Sunday school curriculum are exclusive of each other.

During the lesson I sat there thinking about how God must really want my students to hear this lesson and learn these truths for Him to arrange it to work out this way.

Or maybe it's simply about me, and God wanting me to see Him in it and to ponder His sovereignty.

Either way I look at it... it's way cool.

What a Way To Start My Morning

I was in a car accident this morning on my way to work.  I'm fine, though.  Really.  When I called to report the accident, the operator asked me if I was alright.  I assured her I was, but she said my voice sounded a bit shaky.  I guess I was slightly shaken, but I think I was more startled than anything.  It just happened so quickly.  And unexpectedly.  But I guess that's what defines an accident, huh?

This was just a minor fender bender.  Not a big deal.  And totally not my fault.  A Ford Explorer basically swiped across the front bumper of my Neon at an intersection when he didn't see me making a left-hand turn in front of him.  I was too far into the intersection to avoid a scrape by the time I realized he just didn't see me there.  It tore my #1 Notre Dame Fan license plate right off the front of my car.  {GASP}  And of course, the Explorer came out unscathed.  (He's probably a USC fan.)  Ha Ha... just kidding.

The really special part was getting to stand out in the morning rain while waiting for the officer to get all the information, after having spent the morning primping my new hairstyle with a curling iron and everything, only to have said hairstyle shrivel up into a nasty ball of frizz.  Now that's a picture you're never gonna see on this blog.  NOT EVER.

I'm feeling the littlest bit of soreness at the base of my neck after all that, but it's okay.  I've had whiplash before, and that was awful.  If I'm thankful for anything, it's that the accident was minor enough to prevent serious pain.  Yes, I'm definitely thankful for that.

But do you know what a girl really needs after all that?  Yeah...you know what I was thinkin'.

Tall non-fat raspberry mocha with whip.

I'm definitely thankful for the very nice barista at Starbucks, too.

On The Prowl - Part 2

Remember this little post from two days ago about Teddy hunting down a mouse?  Well, it seems we were looking for the wrong species.  Let me tell ya, perspective is everything.  I sat here two nights ago hoping against all hope that a mouse would not come scurrying out from under that door.  Today, I would gladly welcome a furry little guy...maybe even make him a pet...knowing what I know now.

You see, we did not have one of these:

mouse

We had one of THESE!

bat

In case you didn't know...THAT'S A BAT, PEOPLE!

Thank goodness I wasn't home at the time it was discovered.  Teddy found the bat in the basement and brought him up to the kitchen for us.  Rich went to see what he was playing with, and there it was, lying in the middle of the floor on its back.  He grabbed it up with a grocery sack and took it outside to release him safely into the air, and he flew away.

Putting all the pieces of this drama together now makes complete sense.  When Rich and I came home on Friday, we 2184081366couldn't understand why our mini-blinds in the dining room looked like this - with the slats broken.  We figured Teddy had seen a bug up high and decided to jump for it.  It makes SO much more sense now that the bat must've been in our living quarters and he was trying to get it.  We just didn't think he would jump that high to grab a bug and break our mini-blinds.

It thoroughly creeps me out to know that thing was in my house.  On top of that, people are telling us bats are coming out of hibernation this time of year, so it was just looking for a way out.  My question is, THIS THING HAS BEEN LIVING IN MY ATTIC?!?!?!?

That's it!  I'm moving!
