The article that Paula Hendricks wrote for the True Woman blog this week, My Mom's Courage-Infusing Words, was a challenge to me.  She talked about how we should give courage to others around us.  She shared an example about how her mom does that for her in emails, like when she responded to some anxiety Paula had expressed.  I need to work on being a courage-giver.

Stop Treasuring the Trivial at *Precious Adornment really made me stop and think.  It felt like I got hit between the eyes with the words she quotes from John Piper.  How much of what I do with my day makes it appear to others that I treasure Christ?  Not enough, that's for sure.

I am a new reader of Ann Voskamp's.  I saw her name floating around out there on Twitter, and I thought I'd check out her blog A Holy Experience.  It's a lovely spot on the web, both in pictures and in words.  This week she wrote about gaining a passion for scripture memory on her post titled Returning to Your First Love Bible Memorization: Make a Commitment Booklet.  It made me want to amp up my scripture memorization.

Now, along a completely different vein...

If you're looking to save yourself some money as well as putting something a little healthier into your body, you might want to read The Cheese Wars: Block vs. Pre-Shredded over at Comfy in the Kitchen.  I really need to utilize her suggestion, but I'm definitely gonna need to get a large shredder or else use my food processor.

True Woman: Celebrating God - The last few days I've been revisiting what I experienced at the True Woman Conference last weekend.  This link will take you to a video about attending the conference in Ft. Worth and will also provide a link to Revive Our Hearts to listen to testimonies of women who attended the conference and how God worked to get them there.  I share this link, so you can get a feel for what I experienced at the conference.

*I just want to encourage each of you to seriously consider registering for the True Woman Conference in Fort Worth, Texas.  It will be held October 14-16.  I know there is a cost involved, and for most of you it would mean a longer distance travel.  I can't stress enough how much it would be WORTH IT to make the sacrifice.  I've been to a couple women's conferences in the past, but there is nothing like the True Woman Conference.  It is meaty, sound doctrine and a sweet time of worship.

"Fall Into Reading" Challenge - If you're a heavy reader like I am or wish you had a little more motivation to read, you should check out this gal's blog for her fall reading challenge.

Whatever - I liked the challenge on The Simple Wife's blog yesterday.  It boils down to this: everything I do matters to God.

Baked Potato Soup - Need a good soup recipe?  This one looks DE-LI-CIOUS!!!  I'm printing it out and giving it a whirl.  If I make nothing else in this fall season, I MUST try this soup.

My Fitness Pal - I just had to throw this link in here because I use the website all the time and love it.  It helps me keep track of my food intake and exercise and is helping me to lose weight.  It has a database of food that is quite comprehensive, and whatever isn't in the database can be added using the nutritional info off the back of any package.  It's also a FREE service, which is the best part.

I often come across blogs and such that I find funny, interesting, or encouraging that I'd like to tell you about but never do.  This week I decided to do something about that.  Here are a few links I loved.

Books Disney Films Are Based On - I was awed by this list of Disney films that are based, or loosely based, on books.  It begins with the 1930's and continues through 2010.  I found it at Reading To Know.  I had no idea there were so many Disney movies based on books, and I've always been a huge Disney fan.  I have a strong urge to start putting these on my to-read list simply out of curiosity, but there are so many. 

Facebook Contest - Christian author Jennifer Erin Valent is having a contest for Facebook Fans Only to give away a signed copy of her new book Catching Moondrops.  Head over to her Facebook page to join and enter for a chance to win.  By the way, I'll be posting my review of the book this week on Thursday.  Come back and see what I thought of it. 

Asking Why - This is a brief video by Jennifer Rothschild at the True Woman blog.  She says that when you face adversity and want to ask God "why?", there is another question you should ask.  Check it out.

Update From Joni Eareckson Tada - I've mentioned Joni here before.  She is a Christian woman who is a paraplegic and has a worldwide ministry to people with disabilities.  Joni was diagnosed with breast cancer a few months ago and is undergoing chemo treatments, and she is periodically providing video updates on her blog.  She is an amazing woman because she has an amazing God.

What An Opportunity!

True Woman, a ministry of Revive Our Hearts, is giving me an opportunity to read Nancy DeMoss' newest book Voices of the True Woman Movement and discuss it on my blog.  I am so excited for the book to arrive! 

When I receive the book, I will be reading it and blogging my thoughts, chapter by chapter.  I thought I might make each chapter a weekly entry through summer, but I'll have to see if it works out that way.  I might need to double up posts on a couple weeks.  (I will be away at camp during two weeks in June.)
